Town of Mammoth Lakes Welcomes the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) as a Major Sponsor of the New Community Recreation Center
The Town is delighted to announce and welcome the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) as a major sponsor of the recently opened Community Recreation Center.
On “ICE” Friday, November 24, 2023, over 800 people celebrated the official opening of the Community Recreation Center (CRC) at Mammoth Creek Park. The CRC is a 40,000 square foot Sprung Performance Arena enclosing the brand new LA Kings Ice at Mammoth Lakes that welcomed over 30,000 visitors during its inaugural winter season.
During the summer months, the Olympic ice rink will be transformed into the Mammoth RecZone, a 20,000 square foot, three court gymnasium. The RecZone will serve as the hub for the expanding Parks and Recreation Department’s summer camps and programs, as well as offering a multitude of court sports, such as Basketball, Volleyball, Pickleball, Badminton, Arena Soccer, Futsal and more!
LADWP joins Mammoth Disposal, and Snowcreek Resort as major sponsors of the Town’s new expansive, year-round Community Recreation Center.
Major sponsors share the Town’s vision to enhance the quality of life for both residents and visitors by supporting high quality, affordable and innovative programs and activities that promote ‘healthy and active’ lifestyles for all ages.
In addition to the three-year sponsorship term, for the next three summers, Water Safety Month, Swim Lessons at the Whitmore Pool, and the popular Mammoth Parks and Recreation Summer Nature Camp will be presented by LADWP.
LADWP manages several key facilities in the Eastern Sierra that operate the Los Angeles Aqueduct and provide power to almost 6,000 electric customers in the region. As a dedicated member of the Eastern Sierra community, LADWP has supported over 100 organizations annually in Inyo and Mono Counties.
“LADWP is excited to foster support for environmental stewardship, recreational opportunities, and community programs to residents and visitors of Mammoth Lakes, and the sponsorship of the new Community Recreation Center was a great fit for LADWP in the Eastern Sierra,” stated Adam Perez, LA Aqueduct Manager. “We are not only committed to supporting the sustainability of the facility but want to support and grow recreational programs for local youth throughout the Eastern Sierra.
These sponsorship funds will increase the Parks and Recreation Department’s ability to maintain and sustain the year-round operation of the Community Recreation Center and provide enhanced levels of service beyond the core levels funded from the Town’s general fund.

The Mammoth RecZone operating within the Community Recreation Center is scheduled to open to the public on Saturday, May 18.
