Thelma Arlene Irwin

Thelma Arlene Irwin (Nelson), passed away at 94years old, surrounded by her loving family, on March 31st, 2024, in Palmdale, California.

Thelma was born on January 21st, 1930, in Kansas City, Kansas to Nels Peter & Pearl Nelson. As a teenager, in 1946, she moved to Bishop, California & graduated from Bishop Union High School in 1948, she was the salutatorian for her class.

In 1956 Thelma married Jim Irwin & they then moved to Lancaster California in 1960. Thelma worked for sears for many years. She was extremely active in the Assembly of God church.

Thelmas’ joys in life were spending time with her grandchildren & family, hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, baking, sewing, & singing in the church choir.

She will be greatly missed & fondly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, & great-great- grandchildren, as well as many friends, & neighbors.

Thelma is survived by her children Cheryl Underhill & husband John of Bishop, California, son Robert Irwin & wife Roxanne of Lancaster, California, Stepdaughter Irene Ennis & husband Patrick of Running Springs, California, & step son-in-law Dick Delp of Lakewood, Colorado.

Grandchildren Jim Reynolds & wife Malissa, Becky Riley & Fiancé Dave Hite, Megan Taggart & husband Ron, Maddie Irwin, & Lisa Robinson, Kari Jo Brayer & husband Leith, Kelly Jean Rodda & husband J.R., Sylvia Fedderson (Kelman) & Billy Fedderson

Great-grandchildren Nicole, Destinee, Melodie, Dakota, Elijah, Shiloh, Curtis, Jacob, Rachel, & Lance.

Great-great grandchildren Nyomi, Brooklyn, Alora, Layton, Spencer, Leo, Carter, & Jessie, as well as many nieces, & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, Parents Nels & Pearl, siblings Helen, Janet, & stepdaughter Stephanie.

Services for Thelma will be held Saturday April 20th, 2024, at 11:00am at the East Line Street cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at the Tallman Pavilion building at the Tri County Fairgrounds.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Evelyn, Noel, & Amy, for the last 10yrs of support & care they gave to Thelma.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the VFW Auxiliary 8988 or Laws Museum.
