Lieselotte Babette Lamia (Cisek), “Lisa or Liesel”, of Minnetonka, Minnesota passed away on June 14, 2023. Liesel was born on May 4, 1947 in Zell, Bavaria, Germany.
She was raised by her grandmother in a small Bavarian village until the age of 12 when she moved to the United States with her father, a member United States Air Force. Armed with a German-English dictionary, she learned the language quickly, well enough to win a spelling bee shortly after arriving. Living in Florida, Texas, and eventually near Edwards Air Force Base where her father was stationed. She married Vincent R. Lamia III in 1967 while living in the Antelope Valley and eventually the Owens Valley.
She enjoyed the beauty of the Eastern Sierra and raised her children in Big Pine. She was adventurous and loved to travel, visiting family in Germany, and exploring cities and sights across the United States while pursuing her career and on family vacations. Even though she lived far away, her heart remained in California. Her pride and joy were her grandkids.
Liesel is preceded in death by her parents Thaddeus J. Cisek and Berta Cisek (Opel) and brother Roger Cisek. Liesel is survived by her children James (JR) of Big Pine, Christina Anderson and husband Richard and her children Vincent Lamia and Lindsey Anderson of New Hope, Minnesota, brothers Tom Cisek, Terry Cisek and wife Kim of Lancaster, California and sister Shirley Mahon and husband Jay of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 22, at 10:00 a.m., at the Big Pine Cemetery, 600 West Crocker followed by a gathering at the family home.
In lieu of flowers, the family wants you to think your own mother, reach out to them and give them a hug, if you can, and hug your children, too.
